learn, laugh, live
We are a comparatively new U3A, founded in October 2012, and we are steadily growing into a thriving organisation with many members.
Our activities include monthly Open Meetings and a variety of Special Interest Groups that meet regularly during the month. The Events Manager Jill Sturdey organises the guest speakers for the monthly meeting ensuring their subjects cover a wide variety of topics. In addition to this Jill is also kept very busy organising social events, coach trips, outings to places of interest and fund raising.
Every Open Meeting begins with a welcoming cup of tea or coffee with biscuits, and this is then followed with a short briefing about our latest groups, upcoming news and events including displays of our activities. The Guest Speaker is introduced and gives a talk for about 45mins to 1 hour and the afternoon concludes with the drawing of the Raffle and answers to the quiz.
The meetings provide an excellent opportunity for our members to meet, socialise, to learn and laugh together.
If you are interested in joining the Selsey U3A, please contact the Membership Secretary on 07890269623 or email membershipsecretary@selseyu3a.org who will send you more information and also Membership details If you require.

This is an important reminder to our members that without a committee we cannot operate. If you are interested in joining the committee please contact the Business Secretary Barbara Craig.
The main roles are:
Chairperson, Vice Chair, Business Secretary, and Treasurer. If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact Kathleen Hind by email on chairman@selseyu3a.org.
Other committee members are needed to fill other roles available such as Membership Secretary. Without a full committee we cannot operate efficiently. If you have any time to spare please request more information from our Chairman who will provide you with more information regarding each role.
We also need a number of volunteers who can help at the Open Meetings or throughout the month with other tasks. Volunteers do not have to sit on the Committee but their help is essential and there input is valuable. Please consider a volunteer's role if you are unable to sit on Committee. Thank you.
Selsey U3A's current activities have been temporarily interrupted due to Covid-19 restrictions. Please check before planning to attend any meeting or group activities: email vicechair1@selseyu3a.org
Selsey is one of over 1000 U3As across the UK, each affiliated to the Third Age Trust.
The U3A exists for the benefit of those people no longer in full time employment, who wish to learn and keep active.
Members share their knowledge and experience, and participate in a wide range of educational, creative and leisure activities.
Members are encouraged to share their knowledge, experience and skills and develop their own individual capabilities by learning from, and with other members.
We hold a monthly Open Meeting on the fourth Friday of the month at the Selsey Centre at 2.30pm. Doors open at 2.00pm, and refreshments are served on arrival.
(See the Events page for details of dates and speakers.)
Our meetings generally consist of a guest speaker sharing their chosen topic or speciality, news updates about events and outings and information regarding our groups of which there are twenty. There is a quiz based on the speaker's subject and a raffle is drawn at the end of the afternoon. The meeting closes at 4.00pm.
Visitors are always welcome
